A sentencing judge was not wrong in principle to impose an extension period of three years under the Powers of Criminal Courts (Sentencing) Act 2000 s.85 in addition to a one year custodial sentence in a case in which the risk of re-offending was low where that period was appropriate to reduce the risk and rehabilitate the offender.
