[2011] EWCA Crim 1428

Where a request had been made for an indication of which bracket of the Definitive Guidelines on sentencing a number of fraud offences fell within, a judge had erred in not treating it as a request for an indication of the maximum sentence in relation to all the offences before him. The indication given had not fallen within the guidelines established in R. v Goodyear (Karl) [2005] EWCA Crim 888, [2005] 1 W.L.R. 2532.
