Where counsel for a defendant, on trial with others, had to withdraw from the case at a late stage because of professional embarrassment, the judge had to exercise due discretion to ensure that all the defendants continued to enjoy a fair trial and that the interests of the appellant would be satisfactorily safeguarded.
