[2012] EWCA Crim 1697

A former drug user, who was coerced by a local gang into allowing her home to be used for growing cannabis as a means of repaying an old drug debt, could not escape a custodial sentence where her offending fell within level 3 of the relevant sentencing guideline and where there were aggravating features. Drug production was a serious menace, and if it was known that those compelled to participate in it because of their past association with drugs were likely to receive non-custodial sentences, they would be targeted and crime would be encouraged.
