Once evidence of bad character became admissible through one of the "gateways" in the Criminal Justice Act 2003 s.101(1), the use to which it could be put depended upon the matters to which it was relevant rather than upon the gateway through which it was admitted. Accordingly, evidence of an offender's bad character admitted under s.101(1)(g) could be used, if relevant, to show the offender's propensity to commit offences of the kind with which he was charged.
