A defendant who had changed his pleas to guilty in order to get a lesser sentence had understood what he was doing and why. He had been advised of the risk of conviction and the various courses open to him and, although he had psychiatric problems, the evidence showed that he was capable of understanding the allegations against him and giving instructions.
