[2004] EWCA Crim 1485
The imposition of a deterrent element in a sentence for criminal damage consisting of graffiti was appropriate in order to highlight the seriousness of the offence and to protect society from such a persistent offender. The sentence would however be reduced from two years to eighteen months.
