In an appeal against conviction for offences of attempted rape, indecent assault and intimidation of a witness, following analysis of the judge's directions to the jury and conclusions reached as to the issue on identification, the conviction was regarded as unsafe in the circumstances and was quashed. Accordingly, a retrial was ordered.
