The convictions of the appellants were quashed where despite the strength of the prosecution case against each appellant and the conscientious and able conduct by the judge of the preparations for trial and of the trial itself, his inadvertent disclosure of inadmissible material was of such importance to the central issue in the case that it could not be remedied by judicial direction, however strong.
