Convictions for murder were upheld as the judge had given sufficient jury directions on previous inconsistent statements. The standard Judicial Studies Board direction on previous inconsistent statements should be reconsidered: where the previous statement was exculpatory of the defendant, it was sufficient for the jury to conclude that it might be true rather than was true.
