[2013] EWCA Crim 2433
As there were no sentencing guidelines relating to the theft of wires and cables, the cases of R. v Mitchell (Billy Richard) [2011] EWCA Crim 1652, [2012] 1 Cr. App. R. (S.) 68 and R. v Birch (Ben) [2012] EWCA Crim 1000, [2013] 1 Cr. App. R. (S.) 16, although not guideline cases, were of considerable importance. The court adjusted the sentences of two conspirators involved in the theft of copper cable from electric power lines, but left the sentences of the other two unchanged.
