Peers defy Falconer over Lord Chancellor
PUBLISHED December 8, 2004The Government was defeated twice last night when peers insisted that the Lord Chancellor should be a member of the House of Lords and also a lawyer.
Ministers have accepted that the ancient title of Lord Chancellor should be retained.
