Cathy Jamieson has promised a "new approach" to tackling violent crime after a study said police were failing to meet Scottish Executive targets.

Forces had been asked to cut serious violent crime by 5%, but Audit Scotland said the actual figure rose by 1,500.
The justice minister said she was working with police on a new approach, which will be unveiled next year.
