New doubts about care in community as stabbing rampage kills one, injures five

A mentally ill man was arrested yesterday after six people were stabbed, one of them fatally, in an hour-long rampage that has raised fresh fears about the "care in the community" programme.

The number of murders and assaults by mentally ill people have been rising in the capital and the newly appointed Metropolitan Police commissioner, Sir Ian Blair, has made dealing with the problem one of his top priorities.
