That sigh of relief you just heard? It’s from supporters of the European Convention on Human Rights. Yesterday, the judges of the European Court of Human Rights let liberal opinion out of jail. By a margin of six to one, they ruled against triple murderer Arthur Hutchinson, who had petitioned to have his a whole-life tariff sentence struck down, claiming that by incarcerating him for the rest of his life, it breached his human rights.
