The profession won an almighty battle with the judicial review victory but the war is not won. Grayling launched his latest assault last week in announcing a 3 week "consultation" on the Otterburn and KPMG reports. It is also important to read the draft report prepared for the MOJ by PA Consulting in relation to the financial impact of the proposed fee reductions on criminal legal aid law firms.

It is essential that every one of us, each criminal solicitor in the land, counsel we instruct and all our non-criminal colleagues respond. Thousands of completed questionnaires pointing out the inaccuracies in the assumptions and that this will not work is the only way to defeat it.

This meeting is to assist all criminal lawyers (members, non-members, solicitors, barristers, legal executives, paralegals, members of the judiciary - anyone who has an interest in the proper functioning of our criminal justice system) to prepare their response. The cost is £10 to cover venue hire and the event attracts 2 CPD points.
