Home Office tries to make innocent pay for jail B&B

PUBLISHED March 16, 2004

The Home Office is to appeal today against a court ruling that victims of notorious miscarriages of justice should not have to pay the bed-and-breakfast bill for their time in jail.

Officials are challenging a high court decision that former prisoners, including the Cardiff Three, Birmingham Six and Bridgewater Four, who won appeals against conviction, should not be charged for their board and lodging.
