The largest sum of money seized in Scotland so far under the new proceeds of crime legislation was forfeited yesterday at Dumfries Sheriff Court.

The case follows legal action by the Civil Recovery Unit (CRU), and dates back to 18 December, 2003 when officers from Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary found £161,800 in cash after stopping a car on the M74.
