Clarke to standardise CSO powers

Community support officers (CSO) are to be given a standard set of powers to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.

At the moment CSOs in England and Wales have different powers - such as directing traffic or searching properties - in different areas.
The government say this causes confusion, with some people thinking CSOs have no powers at all.
