National law firm BLM has announced it will consolidate its two London offices into a single location in the City.

The firm will move around 350 staff members from its London Wall office and Lloyds building to Plantation Place on Fenchurch Street in the first quarter of 2015.

The firm has confirmed the move will not involve any job cuts, with the smaller office space available after the move being more 'efficiently' used.

Mike Brown, BLM's senior partner, said it was important for the firm to be in the heart of London's insurance community.

'The time was right to invest in consolidating our London capability in a single place, a flagship office,' he added. 'We believe this move will cement our position at the centre of the world's insurance industry and provide us with an excellent platform for national and international growth.'

Jennette Newman, partner and head of the London office, said BLM is keen to raise its profile and recruiting power, as well as provide a more efficient service to the insurance market.

The firm will share the same building as insurance firms such as QBE and Munich Re, with staff working in an open plan layout. The new office will also include a client suite.

The firm was formed in May 2014 from a combination of Berrymans Lace Mawer and HBM Sayers.

The merger created a firm with more than 170 partners and 1,500 staff, and a turnover of £100m.

In addition to London, it has offices in Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cardiff, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol, Liverpool and Southampton.
