[2006] EWCA Crim 3292
An extended sentence of three years' detention and an extended licence period of three years imposed on a 15-year-old offender for an unprovoked attack causing the death of a member of the public was not unduly lenient and provided adequate public protection, where the offender had had a troubled upbringing and had shown signs of improving behaviour.
