TLS loses challenge against abolition of committal fee

The Law Society has lost its challenge in relation to the decision to abolish the committal fee for publicly funded case.

The Divisional Court adopted almost wholesale the Lord Chancellor?s position despite the substantive arguments put forth, demonstrating just how difficult it is in the current judicial climate and given the economic situation to challenge fee cuts, even when the issue is as neat, clear cut and of such merit as this!

The profession should thank David Sonn and Paul Harris for their tireless work on this issue.
