60 percent of contracts now paid this way

Under the ?Variable Monthly Payments? system, civil and crime legal aid providers are paid for work claimed, so under- and over-payments become a thing of the past. 

The system, launched last year, applies to Legal Help and Crime (Lower) work and is an alternative to the Standard Monthly Payments system.

Variable Monthly Payments have proved popular with 60% of all contracts now paid this way.
