[2001] EWCA Civ 1253

The Police Regulations 1995 SI 1995/215 did not interfere with the common law contractual right to retire on the expiry of a fixed-term contract of employment and a senior police officer on a fixed-term contract could not be subjected to police disciplinary processes after the expiry of that contract.
