[2012] EWCA Crim 1788

A conviction for possessing a false identity document with intent, contrary to the Identity Cards Act 2006 s.25(1)(a), had to be quashed where the 2006 Act had been repealed by the Identity Documents Act 2010, which came into force a few months before the offender's arrest. The Criminal Appeal Act 1968 s.3 could not be used in order to substitute a conviction for the offence under the 2010 Act.
