In light of expert evidence from firearms examiners that without a cylinder and without further testing it was impossible to describe a modified barrel, trigger and frame of an imitation revolver as a firearm, the factual question of whether the components were a firearm should have been left to the jury. It followed that the conviction for possession of a firearm was unsafe.
