[2013] EWCA Crim 1891

An offender who had pleaded guilty to two offences of fraud on the day of trial, having indicated his guilt to the prosecution a few days earlier, was entitled to the 10 per cent reduction recommended under the sentencing guidelines. The lateness of the pleas was reflected in the reduced discount awarded, and the fact that greater cost savings could have been made if the pleas had been entered earlier did not constitute good reason for departing from the guidelines by giving him a discount of only five per cent.
