Minute criticisms of the summing-up were of no value unless, looked at as a whole, it could be seen that the summing-up failed adequately to deal with the issues which were central to the jury's deliberations. Hearsay could be adduced by an accused to show his belief or state of mind as long as there was no attempt to adduce the evidence to prove the truth of its content.
