[2001] EWCA Crim 2874

On appeal, a reduction of sentence from 18 to 12 months' imprisonment was appropriate for a Pakistani who had confessed to seeking to obtain leave to enter the United Kingdom by deception by posing as an Afghan asylum seeker. The court took into account the need to deter such offences as well as the level of sentences in cases involving passport offences.
