[2009] EWCA Crim 1457

Convictions were not unsafe where the judge had addressed an attempt to intimidate jurors by asking the jury to retire to consider whether they felt inhibited from returning a verdict on the evidence unaffected by what had happened. It would have been prudent for the judge to have directed the jury not to speculate as to the sympathies of those involved in the incident, but he had satisfied himself that the jury could retain their objectivity and the trial had thus proceed fairly and safely.
