[2007] EWCA Crim 3360

In a trial for the illegal importation of herbal cannabis, a judge had not erred in admitting bad character evidence to show propensity in the form of a previous conviction by a French court for what was initially alleged to be a strict liability offence of unauthorised importation of cannabis resin, where material was before the Court of Appeal which showed that the offender had in fact also been convicted of being involved in the unauthorised trafficking of the drug, and had furthermore confessed to being paid to take part in drug smuggling.
