Despite his long criminal record, a total sentence of two years' imprisonment imposed on an offender following his pleas of guilty to three offences of passing or tendering a counterfeit currency note and one offence of having custody or control of counterfeit currency notes was manifestly excessive where the quantity of notes involved was low, it was not clear that the offender was close to their source, and there was personal mitigation.
