[2004] EWCA Crim 2414

Where a defendant chose to represent himself on a trial for indecent assault and rape and, at the time of trial, he was prohibited under the Criminal Justice Act 1988 s.34A from cross examining child witnesses, the judge had no power to appoint counsel to cross examine on the defendant's behalf.
