The appellant's convictions for rape and indecency against his niece were safe, despite the fact that the victim had claimed to be a virgin when she was raped by him between the ages of 11 and 13, but it had subsequently emerged that she had sold a story to the press about her contemporaneous "consensual" sexual relationship with Ian Huntley.
