Despite the offender's significant criminal record, a starting point of three years' imprisonment for an offence of handling stolen goods was too high, given the type of property handled, and its value. The appropriate starting point was 27 months' imprisonment, which resulted in a sentence of 18 months after credit was given for the offender's guilty plea.
