It had been appropriate to issue an alert letter, indicating to NHS bodies that allegations of indecent assault had been made against a doctor by patients, even where those allegations had been considered by the relevant disciplinary body and by police and no action had been taken. There had been a pressing need for disclosure to protect patients.
