Police shake-up is 'too quick and with no debate'

The Government was accused yesterday of driving through the most radical reorganisation of the police service for decades in a "scandalously" short time and with little public debate.

The Home Office says that the 43 constabularies in England and Wales should be cut to between 12 and 19 forces to boost the fight against rampant drug trafficking, organised crime and terrorism.
