Police seek a halt to further drinks venues

Grampian Police chiefs yesterday called time on the spread of pubs and clubs in Aberdeen city centre, warning that the force was already stretched to the limit in coping with drink-fuelled violence in the area.

In an unprecedented move, senior officers are demanding a moratorium on the development of venues where alcohol can be sold amid rising concerns about the Granite City[base ']s binge-drinking culture.
