Professor Stephen Molyneux, a magistrate in Shropshire for 16 years, has resigned after being reported by a colleague for posting comments on the social networking site Twitter.

A Judicial Communications Office spokesman said: ?Molyneux was informed that a conduct panel would look into the circumstances of this case at which point he offered his resignation.? There are no plans to continue the investigation.
