We are delighted to have sponsorship again from 25 Bedford Row chambers, who will also participate in the Sunday conference. We also have sponsorship from 5 St Andrew’s Hill chambers for the reception on Saturday evening.  Travel costs should be very reasonable, particularly if booked early and delegates will gain 5 CPD points.  The Association has arranged the hotel and conference. Delegates should book their own preferred travel plans.
Alicante is on the east coast of Spain and enjoys a fabulous climate all year round. In late September it promises wall to wall sunshine, with that magical combination of sea, sunshine and blue skies. Something we are all desperate for after a very wet winter.
We will be staying at the 4* Melia Alicante Hotel.  The hotel is on the beach with guests enjoying either beach or marina views. The price includes 2 nights bed and breakfast, dinner on the Friday evening at La Terraza del Gourmet, a 2 minute walk from the hotel, as well as conferences on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. The rooms are all to a high standard, have internet access and nice products in the bathrooms. There is an outdoor swimming pool and gym for those anxious to get rid of the calories gained at the fabulous restaurants, and a bar to enjoy drinks with friends and colleagues. On Saturday evening there will be a drinks party at the hotel between 7 and 8pm, kindly hosted by 5 St Andrew’s Hill chambers.
TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS
I would advise delegates to book flights early to ensure the best prices. The flight time is about 2.30 hours. A cab from the airport costs about €20 and an airport bus (C6) will drop guests outside the hotel for €4. When booking your travel, don’t forget that you need to arrive in time for dinner at 8ish on Friday evening. The hotel has agreed (subject to availability) to provide rooms on Thursday or Sunday at the same rate if you prefer to arrive the day before or to spend more time there. As the Round the World Boat Race starts from Alicante the following weekend, there will be huge pressure on the rooms. I would need to know as early as possible if you require the extra days at either side of the conference dates.
CONFERENCES
The conferences will be held on Saturday from 10.00 to 12.00 and Sunday 10.00 to 1pm.
Professor David Ormerod has kindly agreed to give a Criminal Update on Saturday and  on Sunday we hope to have a panel of our own in-house experts and from 25 Bedford Row chambers to discuss topics of interest to our members.
5 CPD hours in total.
OPTIONAL CITY TOUR
There will be an optional coach and walking tour on Saturday from 12.30 to 2.30pm after the morning conference, which will take in the main sights.
As always the conference is to be the one of the important social events of the Association’s year. Please apply early to avoid missing this most enjoyable and popular weekend. Please complete and return the enclosed form with a cheque in full payment to secure your place.
