A full parliamentary inquiry was last night demanded into Scottish courtroom security after it emerged that yet another prisoner had been mistakenly released from detention.

Scotland on Sunday can reveal that a prisoner charged with head-butting a police officer walked free from Greenock Sheriff Court on Friday, instead of being sent back to jail. A spokesman for the Scottish Prison Service admitted last night: "It would appear that he has been liberated in error."
