Dale Whiteside, 31, of Greenleys, was driving a stolen taxi in Milton Keynes when he knocked over and seriously injured PC Steve Leathersich whilst he was attempting to make an arrest.

CCTV footage shows that as PC Leathersich approached the car, he was knocked down by the car whilst it was reversing. His head and arms can visibly be seen as he is hit by the taxi.

The police officer suffered serious injuries including four broken ribs.

Whiteside was sentenced at Amersham Crown Court on Wednesday to seven years and three months in prison for causing grievous bodily harm with intent, aggravated vehicle taking and blackmail.
