A suspect who resisted a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 could not be convicted of obstructing a police officer in the execution of his duty, because the search had been unlawful. The search was rendered unlawful by the officer's failure to take reasonable steps to show the suspect documentary evidence of his being an officer.
