In the first case ever to be referred back to the Court of Appeal by the Criminal Cases Review Commission ('CCRC'), a Somali Seaman hanged in 1952 for murder has his conviction overturned where fresh evidence showed that the key prosecution witness's evidence to the jury was inconsistent with that which he had given previously and therefore unreliable.
