A custodial sentence imposed on the Ethiopian appellant for an offence of attempting to obtain services by deception was quashed and an order that she have an absolute discharge was imposed where, in the circumstances of the case, the dishonesty that had made up the offence had been an attempt to board an aircraft with the intention of going to the United States to claim asylum.
