A woman who was mistaken for Maxine Carr had to be escorted by police from her new home.

The woman in her mid-30s said she feared for her life after a rumour swept East Kilbride, near Glasgow, that she was the former girlfriend of Ian Huntley who murdered Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.
After being given a new flat less than a week ago she is now in hiding after a crowd gathered outside her home on Tuesday night and threatening letters were put through her post box.
