Where exemplary damages were appropriate to punish a defendant for his persistent cynical disregard for the criminal and civil law, to deter him and others, and to deprive him of some of the profit of his calculated indifference, the fact that the claimants could have claimed, but did not claim, additional compensatory damages was not a reason for refusing to award exemplary damages.
