Children as young as 12 will be electronically tagged within months after the controversial security company Reliance won a government contract to tackle juvenile crime.
The Scotsman has learned that charities and local authorities are in negotiation with Reliance to work out a strategy for the launch of seven pilot tagging schemes across the country.
Senior justice sources said tagging would act as a "virtual secure unit" for young offenders, cracking down on teenage criminals who terrorise Scotland[base ']s communities.
