Where, in order to protect the public, a maximum sentence had been imposed on an offender who was considered to be very high risk but who had not committed a serious or specified offence, the subsequent imposition of a sentence of imprisonment for public protection for further serious and non-serious specified offences removed the justification for the initial imposition of the maximum sentence.
