Judge condemns 'ludicrous' powers as benefits cheat jailed
PUBLISHED April 23, 2014A judge condemned her own sentencing powers as "ludicrously low" as she ordered a woman who fraudulently claimed £40,000 in benefits to repay the money at a rate of £10 a week and said it was unlikely the total would ever be recovered.
